Our History: A Candle in a Country of Darkness

2016–2017

Formative years leads to a partnership with ESMI to focus on a new presbytery and theological training in the Central Plateau.

2018–2019

Hurricane Matthew relief effort plus funding for children in orphanages.

2020–2021

COVID YEARS: While other ministries leave Haiti, our new local partnership with YFCI leads to a successful summer camp for hundreds of children, followed by launch of after-school youth ministry programs in 10 schools across the Central Plateau.

2022–2023

HHA continues construction of presbytery and training center despite the presidential assassination causing political instability and takeover of southern region of Haiti by gangs.

2024

Gang takeover finally reaches the Central Plateau. HHA provides significant food and other relief efforts through its local network of resources but as residents flee the area, HHA has to reduce operations there.

2025

God’s providence points to continuing his mission in the north of Haiti in Cap-Haitien.

2026

Our transition to Cap-Haïtien marks an exciting new season for HHA. By God’s grace, we have been connected with an existing ministry that not only welcomes our partnership but also provides a ready-built foundation for our work. Their established infrastructure, paired with HHA’s expertise and resources, creates a true win-win—strengthening our shared mission to spread the gospel throughout Haiti.

Partnerships

HHA is effective because it works through established, local entities.  By partnering with local entities, we do not face the problem that other ministries face when crises arise in the country:  while other ministries leave Haiti until trouble subsides, our partners remain on the ground in Haiti because that is their home. The work continues despite the instability in the country.

Key Cities

While Haiti Hope Alliance has spent considerable time and focus in training pastors and reaching residents of the Central Plateau through a base in Mirebalais, the ongoing crises in that area has required a relocation to the city of Cap Haitien, the second largest city in Haiti. This has opened up new opportunities for us, through our local partners, to expand our reach and continue our goal of empowering Haitians to transform their communities.

Strategic Partnerships

El Shaddai Ministries International (ESMI)

One of Haiti Hope Alliance's most impactful partnerships continues to be with El Shaddai Ministries International (ESMI), a ministry dedicated to training, mentoring, and supporting pastors throughout Haiti.

Despite the challenges facing the country, ESMI continues to provide leadership development and spiritual encouragement to approximately 90 churches across Haiti's Central Plateau region. Through theological training, pastoral mentoring, and regular communication, church leaders are being equipped to shepherd their congregations and serve their communities effectively.

These church leaders continue to share the Gospel, disciple believers, and provide practical support to families facing difficult circumstances. Their ministries remain a source of hope, stability, and spiritual growth throughout the communities they serve.

Youth For Christ International – Haiti

The future of Haiti depends upon the next generation of leaders.

Haiti Hope Alliance, together with Youth For Christ International (YFCI) in Haiti, is continually seeking opportunities to engage young people through discipleship, leadership training, and community programs. By collaborating with ESMI locations throughout Haiti, we help provide gathering places for youth clubs, mentorship initiatives, and faith-based leadership development. We also fund local staff who provide these essential services.

By providing safe spaces, positive role models, and biblical teaching, we hope to empower young Haitians to become agents of transformation within their communities.
